DRD: Internal Engagement and Learning App for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bahrain

portfolio cover image

About Client

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bahrain is responsible for managing the country’s foreign relations and official affairs. As part of their commitment to employee growth and well-being, the Ministry wanted to create a fun and engaging platform that would encourage staff to improve their knowledge, especially in languages, while promoting health and overall well-being through interactive challenges. The problem was the need for an easy-to-use app that made learning enjoyable for employees. The app needed to help staff improve their language skills, better understand workplace rules, and stay healthy through challenges. Additionally, it was essential to include a points system where users could earn and redeem points for prizes.

Project Overview

We approached the project by using a variety of tools to bring the app to life. The character "DRD" was designed using Illustrator, while Figma helped us create the app’s layout and wireframes. We added animations with Rive and chose Flutter to develop the app for both iPhone and Android users. For the admin panel, Angular, PHP, and MongoDB were used to ensure it was easy to manage. By adopting an Agile approach, we worked in stages, gathering feedback and making adjustments along the way to meet the Ministry’s expectations. We faced challenges like integrating health data from employees' phones, such as step tracking, and ensuring the app was intuitive despite its multiple features. We collaborated with the development team to smoothly integrate the health tracking and focused on a user-friendly design.

Project Outcome

The app was successfully launched, complete with a points system, language learning tools, and health challenges. Employees found the app engaging, with the animated "DRD" character being a particular favorite. The app significantly increased participation in both educational and health challenges, contributing to better employee development and well-being. Moving forward, we will continue to support and enhance the app, incorporating user feedback and adding new features to keep employees engaged and aligned with the Ministry’s evolving needs.
